November 9, 2025 — Sunday
I woke up around 7:30 in the morning to the quiet arrival of Super Typhoon Uwan. The rain was light at first, and the wind felt like a warning. I immediately charged my phone and other devices because I knew a blackout was likely. I wanted to be prepared for the long, dark night that was about to come.
By 10:00 AM, the electricity went out briefly and came back, but the Wi-Fi had no internet. Good thing I had already downloaded offline games and movies. As the day went on, the weather slowly worsened. By 6:00 PM, the internet still hadn’t returned. At 9:00 PM, the power went out again, and this time the wind and rain had become strong enough to make me uneasy.
Around 11:30 PM, the rain lessened but the wind became louder—whistling sharply, like something was being torn apart outside. I could hear the metal windows of our neighbor being slammed repeatedly by the wind. It was worrying, but I tried to stay calm. I prayed for safety, not only for us but for everyone facing the storm.
I passed the hours watching and playing on my phone until its battery ran low. It was around 1:30 AM when I finally put my phone down. The wind was still strong, but no longer as fierce as earlier. I was tired but couldn’t sleep right away. I just lay in my bed in the dark, listening to the wind, until I eventually drifted off.
November 10, 2025 — Monday
When I woke up, the storm had passed. The rain and wind were gone, but the power was still out. Yesterday, I noticed the clouds moving south. Today, they were moving north. Such a small detail, but somehow it made me feel like the world was slowly settling back into place.
I’m grateful we are safe. I hope everyone else is, too.
